Doreen Karimi Kiriinya serves as an Accountant at The Toolkit for Skills & Innovation, a digitally innovative social enterprise focused on skilling youth and linking them to employment or entrepreneurship opportunities through life skills, digital literacy, and technical trades. With over 5 years of experience in financial accounting, reporting, Audit and controls, she is dedicated to enhancing financial efficiency and enabling sustainable growth through sound fiscal management.
Current Role & Contributions.
At The Toolkit for Skills & Innovation, Doreen manages end-to-end financial operations including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations. She prepares and presents budget reports and financial statements to guide strategic decisions and ensure compliance with tax and statutory regulations such as NSSF, NHIF, HELB, PAYE, and VAT.
She plays a pivotal role in developing internal controls, supporting procurement processes. Doreen collaborates with various departments to promote financial literacy and ensure adherence to budget frameworks, aligning financial systems with organizational goals around youth employability and economic empowerment.
Professional Background
Doreen holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from Mt. Kenya University (Second Class Honours – Upper Division) and is currently pursuing Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Part III at KCA University.
Prior to joining The Toolkit for Skills & Innovation, she served as:
Accountant at Sunlilys Group of Companies, where she oversaw day-to-day finance, audit support, and reporting.
Audit Assistant at Revenue Consulting, managing reconciliations, VAT filings, and financial reports.
Finance Intern at both Kenya Vehicle Manufacturers and Kenindia Assurance, gaining foundational experience in accounting systems and operational compliance.

Managed multi-system integration for accounting data, including QuickBooks, Mzizi ERP, and Excel for enhanced analytics.
Supported the design of cost-effective procurement frameworks aligned with organizational budget goals.
